Man, On March 5th 2008 i zoned out for about an hour listening to this track and even wrote a verse to this shit. I’ve hadn’t had a song hit me like that in a minute so i just wanted to post it especially since in the past hour i’ve read this, this, and this about the new Roots album and i’m really juiced to get that ish. The interviewer from Hiphopdx.com asks some stupid questions, but ?uestlove answers them like a vet.
Sonically the beat is INSANE. Edgy, anxious, ready to blow (or in the midst of blowing), and everyone spittin’ is aggressively puttin there shit out there. Black Thought just feels like he blacks out when he spits and just starts going and is unconscious, “Look my squad half Mandrill half Mandela/My band like 70 strong just like Fela,” FIRE. Dice Raw comes off ridiculous, “I’m half dead/never felt more alive,” and Peedi fuckin kills it, “All I listen to is vets/you fresh off the step I come directly at ya OG neck/I’m used to the 1,2 Check not the 1,2 Step…North Philly Get it IN!!”
Man I’ve been liking Peedi’s whole style of rap since:

Honestly, I don’t know a lot of The Roots albums personally, but got damn, if this shit doesn’t make you a fan off top you lightweight, naw, HEAVYWEIGHT suck! For real, bruh.
